Want to really have full control over Phone/Tablet mode on your Nexus 7? Well, there’s a ROM for that called Paranoid Android ROM.

Built on top of CM10 ROM, Paranoid Android ROM brings precise App DPI control to the table. Now, you can enjoy all the benefits of CM10 ROMs plus the ability to run apps in phone or tablet mode. I think this can be great for those of you who want to run certain apps in phone or tablet mode. Also can be great for the elderly who have trouble seeing smaller letters, then you can set all apps to look much much bigger.

Not just that, you can also set your Nexus 7 to have a full tablet mode like larger Android tablets, bringing you a full tablet experience (if you want).

I think this is definitely a great custom you have to try at least once so give it a test drive over the weekend and let me know what you think!

Tried this some days ago. Pretty good ROM, but some apps go wonky at whatever dpi setting you select for them.

  2. Smooth as silk so far. Benches a little better than Standard 4.1.2. This one is going to be fun to play with.

    • Everything was as smooth as silk. Everything was working OK and then it wouldn’t install Swiftkey 3 pro table. A deal breaker for me. I love the tablet layouts and the program custimizations. There is an update to the ROM. I will run it and see if it fixes the issue and report back.

OK I lied. I installed the update to this ROM’. I still can’t enable my installed Swift key. This really sucks for me but I guess I am going to have to get used to this stock JB tablet keyboard because I love this ROM! It is s much nicer running my Nexus 7 as a tablet instead of a blown up phone. I am keeping this ROM for the duration of 4.1.2 or until something better falls into my lap because I am not going to spend any effort looking. I have found a wonderful marriage with this ROM and the “Motley” kernel. This gives me a GPU over clock of 520 and my CPU can overclock to 1.6. That’s really not much of an over clock for this unit, very conservative actually. These things can OC to 2.0 CPU and a 700 GPU OC is not uncommon. I run at 1.5. There is a perceptible increase in the responsiveness and snap in the over all feeling that I just love. Give the one a try. I thought I was over it,but had to come back and am loving it despite not having my precious Swift key 3.
