Probably one of the best custom ROMs you can run on your Nexus 7 Android tablet is JellyBAM ROM.

Why?

JellyBAM ROM is a mix of AOKP, CM10.1, and ParanoidAndroid ROMs. Basically, you get the best of the three ROMs so you don’t have to flash a lot of ROMs.

One of the features I love about ParanoidAndroid ROM is that you can easily switch between Phone, Phablet, and Tablet UI mode in real-time. Well, the latest version of ParanoidAndroid ROM isn’t available yet for Nexus 7 but by installing JellyBAM you will get the latest ParanoidAndroid ROM settings included.

Also, AOKP’s latest MR1 Build 6 is included so you can the latest AOKP ROM Control with all the bells and whistles.

My main reason for using JellyBAM ROM is that I want to have AOKP ROM Control settings so I can enable all widgets on my lockscreen, fully customize my soft navigation buttons while being able to run my Nexus 7 in full tablet mode.

Also, it’s great to be able to tweak apps to run just the way I want it. My favorite is Netflix in full tablet mode as I can see way more titles than default setting.

I’m facing speed issues with my Nexus 7 using the stock ROM.
How fast is this ROM? And will it increase the stock MHz?
    Thanks!

This is a great ROM but the menu button in the navigation bar doesn’t respond in apps, help?

  3. JC914 says:

I’ve installed the ROM, but it won’t pass the ‘splash screen’. This is in during start-up, where the android robot eats the jellybam, then turns into a spaceship. It just stays in that mode. If i restart, it does the same thing. Any help is appreciated.

  4. On the bottom, where the clock is.big tap pie control and the on screen buttons and menu disappear. I don’t know how to her them back without reinstalling the ROM. Help please? ):

    • Luis Gallegos says:

if you can access the settings shortcut then you could go into the paranoid android preferences. Click on the Stock or Phone UI and one should give you the navigation bar on the top so that you can disable it.

    • Don says:

You should be able to push the power button and have the option, expand desk top.

I rooted and installed jellybam and all is working well thanks. I was just wondering if and how do we update to the newest version of jellybam? Looks to me like there is a 7.8.0 version out?

    any new ROMs coming Max?

  8. Pierre says:

    Hi Max,

I don’t know how much you still read this forum but I have a pretty serious issue. I tried installing JellyBam on my Nexus 7 and kept having this weird gapps // setup has crashed issue. I read on the forums how to fix it, so I tried erasing dalvik cache and format tablet as stated above. What happened is it erased the ROM File of my tablet so now I am stuck with the bootloader and no way to put any rom in order to flash them onto the tablet. My computer won’t allow me to transfer anything to the Nexus either. Is there a way to fix this ?

    Thanks,
