To install, you can use ROM Manager, make a backup ROM first. Then install CM10, Gapps, and Motley kernel.

Nexus 7: I followed your video and got mine rooted. I have superuser permission, Titanium Backup Pro and Rom Manager (the free one).

I downloaded CM10 and that seemed to install via Rom Manager. I downloaded GApps and tried to install it with Rom Manager but I get the Android icon with a Red Error Triangle, after a few minutes the device reboots by itself. But, I do not see anything that is different (from stock) in the way of features or Apps.

Using iMac to do this and the Android File Transfer app… I dragged the two files CM10 and GApps to the Download folder in the Nexus.

Note: I did not try to install the Motley CM Kernel – Do I need that also if I don’t want to overclock?… What to do next???

  2. Lucky says:

Just wondering what version of CM10 is it and what version of the kernal you have? Because I want to know if I can find a newer version of it on XDA
Btw are there any bugs with this combo of ROM and kernal?

    • admin says:

The version I have is 1.0.5 but you can try the latest version, I usually leave the version I used just in case new versions have bugs and diff from one I used.

  3. alex says:

Will the kernel work with stock ROM? Not ready to flash just yet but I am interested in over clocking.

  4. lakser says:

is this cm10 the same as the one in this xda thread?

  5. Alec Vanek says:

How did you get the stock android web browser on your nexus 7?

  6. Nick says:

I tried this and I am now stuck on the Cyanogenmod 9 loading screen. Any ideas on how to fix it?

  7. lakser says:

You should be able to boot I to recovery by holding volume and power button

Make sure the nexus is connected to your computer for this or it wont boot into recovery. ( nexus 7 bug I think)

    • cazmiester says:

You can get to the open android screen but selecting anything just puts you back into this loop with no way out as above

    • Miguel Gonzales says:

After install twrp through goomanager, I no longer need to have it connected to the PC to boot into recovery. Might work for you?

  8. cazmiester says:

can you just flash the motley kernel or trinity seven kernel without installing the grouper and gapps roms if you are unlocked and rooted? is there a video for this?

  9. Tom says:

I know it’s in the early stages, but cm10 was kind of dull, how about a “codename android” rom for nexus 7!

  10. First of all I want to say great blog! I had a quick
question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to know how
you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there.

I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips?
    Thank you!

Thanks for every other magnificent post. Where else
may anyone get that type of information in such an ideal way of
writing? I have a presentation subsequent week, and I’m
at the look for such info.

It looks like you’ve misspelled the word “kernal” on your website. I thought you would like to know :). Silly mistakes can ruin your site’s credibility. I’ve used a tool called in the past to keep mistakes off of my website.
